Higher education

Earlier today, after having a wonderful mee hoon goreng by Chef Papa, I took an old Malaysian newspaper ( last year newspaper ) on the table. I decided to read it through. I felt too lazy to start my math revision while my stomach still very full! Oh my dear... My tummy looks like a balloon after I had two plates of mee hoon just now. I was really hungry. Huh? Who cares? Hee...Hee...Hee...

Anyway, the newspaper was actually not the main news, its only the special /addition section which you always get when you buy Star ( one of Malaysian English newspaper). So, this section is called StarSpecial as the main title. For this edition ( Wednesday, 16 January 2008), the main topic is about education. I assumed the topic was chosen because it was the beginning of the year, so, its mainly the starting of the Malaysian academic year.

As I continued my reading, I found out that there are so many private universities and colleges now in Malaysia. All of them advertised their schools as there were intakes for February. Huh! Not bad~ Our higher education now is moving forward to the same level as the international and other well-known universities in the world! For example, LimKokwing, Taylor's, and SEGi, just to name a few. I read all the advertisements. Most of them have collaboration with international universities around the world mainly UK and Australia. They offered overseas degree and educations locally. They have this special programme called 3+0. So, Malaysian students now can have the privileged to obtain the best educations in the world for just half the price paid by other overseas students (if they go privately). In addition, the students can also get two degrees at the same time! One from the foreign universities and one from the local universities. Most of the school bodies said that all of the students graduated from their universities / colleges are perfectly prepared for the world of employment. Cool!

In conclusion, I obtained a lot of informations about the higher educations just from reading the newspaper. Thank you so much Star as you provided me with a lot of choices of universities / colleges to choose from. Now, I have a lot of thinking to do. Sigh~

Hmm... I've never thought that one day I have to think of which universities should I choose. And that day came too fast. If before, I always look at my cousins who were preparing themselves to college. This year I will turn 17 and I'm now in my last year of secondary school. Next year, I will turn 18 and I will be in college already ( Or, it can be sooner than that ~ THIS JULY! ) I still remember clearly, in 2005, when I first turned 13, I asked something to my next-bed roommate. She was in Form 5 that year. I called her Kak Azwa ( the Form 5 student which I most closed to ). I asked her whether 5 years in asrama ( hostel ) was too long for her or not. She answered me by saying, " Huh, tak langsung! Kejap jer. Pejam celik, pejam celik, dah Form 5 dah. Hah, macam K.Azwa ni, nak SPM dah tahun ni, " I then took her words and had a thinking about it for awhile. Actually, that time was my very first week staying in hostel. So, I still kinda had the culture shock. But then, I learnt how to cope up with the new environment comfortably. I made many good friends in just two weeks ( I missed them so much! ) Anyway, K. Azwa was right! Its not long after all! Time flies when you just about to enjoy it~ I still couldn't believed that I'm now in my last year of high school. Huh~ The world is getting bigger for me. Meaning that I will be facing a more challenging obstacles in future. Oh, Ya Allah! Give me the strenght...

By the way, after reading the newspaper, Imran called my mummy. I talked with her for awhile. She advised me to focus in my study as I will be sitting for my IGCSE ( equivalent to SPM )this May. She also asked me to perform Solat Istikharah so in hoping I will be getting some sense ( petunjuk dari Allah ) of which path should I choose the best. It is ironic as I was reading about the higher educations before, i.e universities and colleges, but then my mom told me to start thinking about it. Huh, my mom has the Sixth sense!

I didn't continue my conversation with my mom because she has fever right now. As I been told, Shakira and Kak Fazat also sick, only Mak Cik Sunti is o.k~ Poor them... I hope they will get better soon. And Shakira can continue her schooling as usual.
